Kyle Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Kyle man charged with Sexual Abuse was sentenced on November 14, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Donald Bear Runner, Jr., age 26, was sentenced to 70 months' imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, a $100 victim assessment, and $2091 in restitution.

Bear Runner was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 15, 2011. In August 2010, near Kyle, he engaged in a sexual act with a female who was unable to give consent. Bear Runner pled guilty on August 12, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Oglala Sioux Tribe-Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Collins prosecuted the case.

Bear Runner was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
